چکیده

Accurate (∼ 1%) predictions for the anisotropy of the Cosmic Background Radiation (CBR) are essential for using future high-resolution (∼ 1) CBR maps to test cosmological models. In many inflationary models the variation (“running”) of the spectral index of the spectrum of density perturbations is a significant effect and leads to changes of around 1% to 10% in the CBR power spectrum. We propose a general method for taking running into account which uses the derivative of the spectral index (dn/d ln k). Conversely, highresolution CBR maps may be able to determine dn/d ln k, giving important information about the inflationary potential. 98.70.V, 98.80.C Typeset using REVTEX

Running of the scalar spectral index from inflationary models

The scalar spectral index n is an important parameter describing the nature of primordial density perturbations. Recent data, including those from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe satellite, show some evidence that the index runs ~changes as a function of the scale k at which it is measured! from n.1 ~blue! on long scales to n,1 ~red! on short scales. We investigate the extent to which ...

Inflationary Potential Reconstruction for a WMAP Running Power Spectrum

The WMAP measurement of the CMB temperature anisotropy is intriguingly consistent with a larger running of the inflationary scalar spectral index than would be expected for single-field inflation. We revisit the issue of a large running spectral index, first by reexamining the evidence from the data, and then by reconstructing the inflationary potential, using a new method based upon the Hamilt...

Production of scalar and tensor perturbations in inflationary models.

Scalar (density) and tensor (gravity-wave) perturbations provide the basis for the fundamental observable consequences of inflation, including CBR anisotropy and the fluctuations that seed structure formation. In general, these perturbations are nearly scale invariant (Harrison-Zel’dovich spectrum), though slight deviation from scale invariance (“tilt”) can have significant consequences for bot...

Inflationary potentials yielding constant scalar perturbation spectral indices

Inflation, a cornerstone of the modern framework for understanding the early universe @1,2#, predicts the initial conditions for the formation of structure and the cosmic microwave background ~CMB! anisotropies. During inflation, the primordial scalar ~density! and tensor ~gravitational wave! perturbations generated by quantum fluctuations are redshifted beyond the Hubble radius, becoming froze...

Running Spectral Index in Noncommutative Inflation and WMAP Three Year Results

A model independent analysis shows that the running of the spectral index of the three year WMAP results can be nicely realized in noncommutative inflation. We also reexamine some concrete noncommutative inflation models. We find that a large tensor-scalar ratio is required, corresponding to a low number of e-folds before the end of inflation in some simple models. An epoch of accelerated expan...
